There's about to be a remote controlled eye in the sky.

WZZM-13 reports that the Federal Aviation Administration has given its approval to Michigan State Police to use aerial drones.

The reason?

According to the state, the drones will be used to photograph crash scenes, and will be used to get a better view of other emergency situations.

The remote-controlled helicopter was purchased in September 2013 for $158,000, authorities said.

Here's a previous report from WOOD-TV 8 that explains what Michigan State Police will be using the drone for.
