Most Michigan State Football fans have a bitter taste in their mouth after last Saturday's loss to Arizona State, but we do have a very promising team to look forward to this year.

Last year, the Michigan State Spartans went all the way to the Final Four and this year they have most of their team's biggest contributors returning for the 2019-20 season.  Just a few of the key players from last season that are returning are the team's captain Cassius Winston (Senior), Grand Rapids native Xavier Tillman (Junior), and the big-time shooting guard Joshua Langford (Senior).

Cassius Winston was a real leader for the Spartans last year and this year pundits are convinced that he will be the leading contender for the Naismith College Player of the Year.  And because of the strong leadership Winston will provide and the return of most of MSU's key players, the Spartans are being ranked the best team in the country by multiple news outlets.

The Sports Illustrated "Way-Too-Early Top 25 for 2019–20" rankings put MSU in the number 1 spot ahead of Kentucky, Duke, Louisville, and Villanova.  SI went on to say that "It all revolves around Winston, who made the leap last season and has some unfinished business left to handle. This is the team to beat going into the fall."

NBC also has Michigan State University ranked #1 in their preseason poll ahead of Kentucky, Duke, Kansas, and Villanova.

So, if MSU falters in football this Saturday in their Big Ten opener against Northwestern, just remember that the basketball season is less than 2 months away.
