Michigan is launching a program that aims to get inmates registered to vote as well as issuing them identification once they are released from prison.

According to an article by MLive.com, The Michigan Department of Corrections are working alongside Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson to make sure that inmates in Michigan are issued a state ID or a drivers license upon release from prison.  The issuing of an ID will also automatically register them to vote because of a new law that was passed last year.  The new program will start in select prisons and will be implemented statewide this fall.
