MSU Health Care Students Graduating Early To Help Fight COVID-19

Michigan State University is taking a page of Italy's playbook and rushing health care students out of medical school and into hospitals to help fight COVID-19.

MSU's health care students who have successfully completed their program requirements, will be entering the health care workforce by the dozens.  MSU is currently working with the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) to graduate 87 baccalaureate-prepared nurses, 61 medical doctors and 213 osteopathic physicians.

LARA is allowing medical students across the state of Michigan to expedite their licensing process and enter the workforce via residencies a few months ahead of the normal time of July 1st.

MSU Today reports that these expedited licenses will extend to nursing students as well and could bring much needed help to the frontline fight against COVID-19.
