While one recreational marijuana dispensary is now open in Muskegon, another has delayed its grand opening due to "insufficient inventory".

Wood TV 8 reports that Bella Sol Wellness Centers had initially planned to open on Saturday, January 18.

The dispensary shared the news on Facebook, saying they are still open for medical marijuana sales, but "have had a difficult time securing an adequate amount of product. Rather than disappoint customers with an insufficient inventory, we’ve decided to postpone our Grand Opening."

Manager Tyler Melton tells Wood TV 8 dispensaries across Michigan are facing the same problem:

“It’s because of the supply and demand There are over 40 provisionary centers licensed for rec (recreational sales) and only 10 to 15 vendors, so everything is being bought out in bulk.”

Another Muskegon dispensary, Park Place Provisionary, opened on Friday. Owner Greg Maki told Wood TV 8 they currently have an adequate supply, but hope to "become their own supplier to sidestep vendor shortages."

Bella Sol Wellness Center says they plan to be open for recreational sales in the coming weeks.
