As someone who's lived in Michigan my entire life, the state obviously has a lot to offer... but your next match? I'm not so sure. Then again, I might just be cynical when it comes to dating, plus this new study says otherwise.

WalletHub compared all 50 states to find '2020's Best & Worst States for Singles' and Michigan is one of the best coming in at #10. The finance website looked at 29 key indicators that fall under "dating-friendliness" such as the number of single adults in each state to nightlife options. They broke it down in three categories:

  1. Dating Economics
  2. Dating Opportunities
  3. Romance & Fun

Under these, Michigan came in 11th, 19th, and 11th respectively.

Other findings include:

  • 13th – % of Single Adults
  • 3rd – Gender Balance of Singles
  • 19th –Median Annual Household Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)
  • 12th – Restaurants per Capita
  • 14th – Movie Theaters per Capita
  • 24th – Crime Rate

I'm confused we came in 13th for the percentage of single adults... WHERE ARE ALL THESE SINGLE PEOPLE? HELLO!!

If you're like me and having 0 luck in Michigan... maybe a trip to sunny California or Florida might be a good option. Arkansas and West Virginia, though? Not so much.
