Netflix’s Internet Service Provider Speed Reports: Who Is Fastest?
Every so often online streaming giant Netflix will release the ISP (Internet service providers) speed reports.
How do our local high speed providers (Comcast, AT&T, etc.) stack up?
Basically, it's bad for us in West Michigan.
But there's a reason why Verizon's FIoS and others' do better than our local choices.
Last month, there were improvements stemming from the company’s relationships with AT&T, Time Warner and Verizon. This past month has seen a huge boost for Verizon FiOS, which jumped nine spots all the way to the top of the U.S. chart.
As Netflix explains in a blog post: “The rapid rise, which began last month, followed an interconnection agreement with the company that uncongested ports for mutual customers. Similar arrangements with Time Warner Cable and AT&T U-Verse also resulted in increased speeds in September of 2.87 Mbps and 2.77 Mbp, respectively.”
Ahh. Now it makes sense. The ever popular "company relationship."
