The new bridge connecting Canada and The United States will be named after a Detroit Red Wings hockey great.

The Detroit News has confirmed that the second bridge will be named the "Gordie Howe International Bridge".

The bridge isn't expected to be completed until at least 2020.

The name of the bridge pretty fitting since both Detroit and the entire country of Canada love both hockey and Gordie Howe.

Howe is continuing to recover from a stroke at this time.

Financing for the bridge will be split by the U.S. and Canada. Canada will be fronting the U.S.'s half, which will then be repaid to them via tolls.
