This is Café de Miro's second Grand Rapids location, which they had hoped to open this past summer... as with so many things during the pandemic, the grand opening was delayed  - but it's now set for Saturday Dec. 11, 2021!

The original Café de Miro is located at the Breton Village Mall in East GR.

Botan Alagoz, son of owners Fatosh and Apo Alagoz, will be managing their new location and is eager to begin welcoming customers; he said in a release,

The Downtown Market is the perfect place to expand our business. We’re looking forward to sharing menu items that are exclusive to our new location, and adding unique dining options to the variety of great food already available in the Market.”

The Alagoz famly moved to Grand Rapids four years ago from Istanbul, Turkey and brought their local dishes and flavors to the area. They opened their restaurant in 2019.

The dishes are inspired from Eastern Turkey and have lots of Mediterranean influence. Their menu includes breakfast items such as shaksuka, sandwiches like the gyro and beef burek, and sides like hummus.

Café de Miro at the Downtown Market will serve favorites from the flagship restaurant, and will also offer build-your-own Mediterranean bowls and wraps, gyros, falafel, and eight healthy dip options, including baba ghanoush and eggplant shaksuka. You'll also find paninis, acai bowls, and Turkish coffee at the new restaurant.

Mimi Fritz, President and CEO of the Downtown Market said,

We are excited to welcome Apo, Fatosh and family to the Downtown Market. It’s wonderful to bring a style of cuisine that has not yet existed in the Market Hall since opening our doors 8 years ago. Cafe de Miro will certainly fit this bill, and we’re sure patrons will embrace this addition.

Café de Miro is in a a soft opening period all this week leading up to the grand opening on Saturday. You'll be able to order in-person or over the phone, with indoor and outdoor public seating available at the Downtown Market.
