New Restaurant With Rooftop Bar Coming to the Medical Mile
A building that has sat vacant for years along Michigan St. is about to become Grand Rapids' newest restaurant - and it's going to have a rooftop bar!
The "Lord's Chapel" building at 720 Michigan Street will be transformed into The Friesian Gastro Pub. The restaurant, set to open later this year will feature a full menu of comfort food items with "an eclectic twist" according to their press release.
The restaurant is being designed to seat 88 people inside, have a 20-person patio behind the building, and will also have a 50-person rooftop deck. The owners are still waiting on approval for their state liquor license, but expect to have it in the coming months.
The new venture is co-owned an operated by Craig Jones, a local restaurant industry veteran. Zan Lamkin and Phil Rienstra are the other co-owners.
Jones said in a release,
The Friesian Gastro Pub aims to create a casual, neighborhood vibe with a full selection of drink offerings, while providing an eclectic twist on comfort food. We intend to change the menu regularly with some globally-inspired selections, but not stray too far from what you’d expect in a neighborhood gastro pub. The Friesian will deliver really great food in a non-pretentious manner, so we aim to keep our prices very fair.
The Friesian expects to be open every day, including brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Tentative daily hours are: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 10 a.m. to Midnight Friday and Saturday; and 10 a.m.-11 p.m. Sundays.
