The Detroit Red Wings will be shorthanded for Game 7 Wednesday night, April 29th, against the Tampa Bay Lightning, after the NHL announced that defenseman Niklas Kronwall would be suspended one game for a hit he delivered in Game 6.

During Game 6 Monday night, April 27th, Kronwall bowled over Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov. Because Kronwall left the ice and 'launched into the hit,' the NHL Department of Player Safety suspended him for Game 7, according to the Detroit Free Press.

Fans of the Detroit Red Wings have come to love the hits Kronwall delivers, often referring to players receiving the hit as getting 'Kronwalled.'

This is the first time in his eleven year career that Kronwall has been disciplined for a hit and it couldn't have come at a worse time, as the Red Wings and Lightning will play one last game to decide who will move on to the next round of the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Game 7 between the Red Wings and Lightning will take place Wednesday night, April 29th, in Tampa Bay. The puck drops at 7:30pm EST.
