1990's One Hit Wonders:

Haddaway - "What Is Love" Well if you didn't know this song originally when it hit #11 at tt the end of August of 1993. Then you know it well from the Saturday Night Live bit with Chris Kattan and Will Ferrell bobbing their heads trying to pick up women. The bit was so successful they turned it into the movie "A Night At The Roxbury" Nester is Haddaway's first name originally from Tobago, but raised in Chicago.

Lou Bega - "Mambo #5" You'd never guess that Lou was born in Germany as we expect some Latin country origin. If this song sounded familiar it's a partial remake utilizing new words Prez Prado's original 50's hit who was known as the "King of Mambo" No wonder on what ever happened to Mambo's #1 - #4?

CHUMBAWAMBA - "Tubthumping" This Punk Octet from hails from London. Several meanings to Tubthumping including going out and singing and having drinks after a night of protests and/or expressing your (religious) opinions in a dramatic way.

DEEE-LITE - "Groove Is In The Heart" This New York dance trio got this song all the way up to #4 in September of 1990. Also on the song is background vocals than non-other "Bootsy" Collins. They would come close to another Top 40 song with "Power of Love" in 1991 that only reached #47.

Sinead O'Connor - "Nothing Compares 2 U" With a last name like O'Connor it's obvious she's from Dublin, Ireland. Sinead put her own spin on this remake of a Prince song. Also well known for her very short hair and for her outspoken opinions. The controversy halted her success in the USA.
