Out Of My Weekend TV Watchin’ Mind…

Ya know it was kinda hot over the weekend. I went to the Whitecaps game Saturday night (as it appeared about 30 of my co-workers and Facebook friends went as well) but other than that, I stayed cool in my little cave (I live in a basement apartment) and watched TV. Alot of TV.
Here's some of the highlights...

1. Have you seen the Angry Birds commercial from Sprint? I'm not sure what to make of it...on the one hand, it acknowledges a cultural phenomenon, yet on the other hand, it's like acknowledging that Justin Bieber is a cultural phenomenon. Watch it here...

2. I saw a commercial for a flat scree TV company (I won't say the name, but it rhymes with "Lam Dung") that wants me to follow them on Twitter. Really. What could a flat screen TV company have to tell me on Twitter? "Watch MTV now as @JustinBieber watches OUR new 174 inch TV" I'll pass.

4. Have you noticed that all the Pepsi commercials now are stealing from the old Coke commercials? From Santa to the Polar Bears, Pepsi shows how those old Coke stand-by's should take a summer vacation and drink the hot summer drink, Pepsi. Now I'm a loyal Pepsi drinker, so it;s kinda cool, but I have also seen that Pepsi is now number 3 behind Coke and Diet Coke. So being the competitive marketplace being the way it is, is THAT the best way to go? Copying the old ideas of your competition? I guess.

5. Finally, I watched the old Slam Dunk contests on NBA TV from the 80's...The winner back then got, get ready for it, $12,000 for WINNING the slam duck contest. These days, NBA Players make $12,000 for MISSING a slam dunk. Well maybe they will.

Love those birds....well actually I can't download it...I have a Blackberry knockoff...no luck for me...
