Construction season is upon us. Yay?

The City has announced that starting at March 17 at 6p.m. a portion of Pearl Street NW downtown Grand Rapids will close due to construction and renovations at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel.

The closure is expected to last several weeks.

The City of Grand Rapids says the closure is necessary for "onsite crane mobilization as crews begin to replace the Amway Grand façade with more energy-efficient materials and windows."

Posted detours will include:

  • Westbound – Monroe Avenue to Michigan/Bridge to Mt. Vernon
  • Eastbound – Scribner Avenue to Bridge/Michigan to Monroe

During the closure, you'll still be able to access the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum and Grand Rapids Public Museum at Front Avenue. Access to Amway Grand Plaza Hotel Parking Ramp and loading dock and authorized trips to Horizon Bank and JW Marriott will also be allowed.
