Pistons Top Draft Pick Wins Over Fans With His Fashion Choice
The Detroit Pistons took in a haul of young talent in the annual NBA draft, including the number one pick, who has already endeared himself to fans.
To no one's surprise, the Detroit Pistons chose Oklahoma State's Cade Cunningham with the number one overall pick in the NBA draft.
And Cunningham immediately made a fashion statement by sporting Cartier sunglasses during his press conference. The glasses, known in the Motor City as "Buffs", are a big local trend, which won over Twitter followers, who immediately noticed the love.
Cunningham performed well at Oklahoma State, averaging 20 points a game, while dishing out 3.5 assists per game. ESPN's Jay Bilas called him 'the most complete player I can remember coming out of the draft.'
I'm not that well versed in Detroit sunglasses trends to have noticed the 'Buffs', but I did notice that the Pistons did vey well for themselves in the draft, also picking up Iowa center Luka Garza in the second round.
Garza is a mobile big man who can shoot from the outside, and was the College Basketball Player of the Year last season.
They also picked up local hero Isiah Livers, who grew up in Kalamazoo, and played his college ball at the University of Michigan. Livers was a great clutch player for the Wolverines, and I can envision him being a wonderful role player for the Pistons.
So, when you add those three players to a mix that already includes a USA Olympic Team player in Jerami Grant, two All-Rookie team players from last season in Saddiq Bey and Isaiah Stewart, and an emerging point guard in Killian Hayes, and you can see why Piston fans have their hopes up for the coming season.
But Detroit fans don't like expectations, do we?
