Planet Fitness Downtown Grand Rapids is FINALLY Open
Way back in the fall of 2019 we told you a new Planet Fitness would be opening downtown Grand Rapids...
Well, it's finally happening!
Previously, Director of marketing for Planet Fitness, Mary Scott told the Grand Rapids Business Journal,
We are very excited to be in the ‘middle of everything’ in a downtown setting. As with any new location, we look for opportunities to bring convenient access to Planet Fitness’ affordable, judgment-free atmosphere.
Initially, the 24,797 square foot fitness center had been set to open at 234 Market Ave. SW in the spring of 2020.
As you may have guessed, plans changed because of the pandemic.
A spokesperson for PF Michigan Group, the organization that's leasing the space and operating the gym, tells Wood TV 8 that COVID-19 shutdowns that year delayed construction.
Members have already started working out at the new Planet Fitness. It's open and staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
There's only one Google review so far - but it's five stars. Craig says,
Super impressed with this location! Bigger than expected and no shortage of machines to choose from.
Parking is street parking or the Ellis garage one the same block ($2 per half hour).
The new Planet Fitness Downtown Grand Rapids will hold their official grand opening Monday, Oct. 19, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
