Pope Joke Contest is Underway

“Did you hear the one about the Pope who…” You’ve heard Pope jokes, you’ve probably told Pope jokes. Now is your chance to showcase your punchline to the Pope. Seriously.

The Catholic Church’s official organization, The Pontifical Mission Societies, has set up a website where you can upload you video Pope joke as part of a contest. So far, entries from over 38 counties have been shared.

A panel of judges, including Bill Murray, will do the judging and award the winner the title of “Honorary Comedic Advisor to the Pope.”  If TV host Conan O'Brien, can enter this: "The California drought is so bad, people in Napa are asking the Pope to change the wine into water," then you have a shot.

As with most things Papal, the end goal is get you to think about serious issues facing our world, like poverty and hunger, and be sure you come up with your own joke, because the ones they offer you are pretty bad.
