President Joe Biden will make a stop in Traverse City this Saturday, July 3.

According to the Record-Eagle Biden's visit coincides with the first day of the National Cherry Festival. The stop is part of the  “America’s Back Together” tour to mark progress against COVID-19 and encourage vaccination efforts and outreach. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will accompany the President.

CNN reports that a White House official says of the tour,

The work to vaccinate America and bring us to this moment has been monumental, and the President, Vice President, first lady and second gentleman, along with members of the Cabinet, will be fanning out across the country to celebrate our progress in fighting this pandemic and getting our country back to normal.

First Lady Dr. Jill Biden will travel to Maine and New Hampshire, Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Nevada, and Second Gentlemen Doug Emhoff will visit Utah. July 1-4 other members of Biden's cabinet will "attend roundtables and baseball games plus visit fire stations, festivals, parades, cookouts and more" across the country, CNN reports.

Specific details about the President's trip to Traverse City have yet to be revealed.

According to the Record-Eagle, Gov. Whitmer said she is excited to welcome the President back to the state during the “height of a Pure Michigan summer".

Whitmer said Monday afternoon,

The president continues to prioritize Michigan and Michiganders as we put people back to work and build back better from the pandemic. Under the president’s leadership, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make historic investments in small businesses, education, and infrastructure to boost our economic jumpstart and help families emerge stronger than ever before.

Traverse City Mayor Jim Carruthers told the Record-Eagle,

I think it’s great he’s coming to TC. It means a lot that our president cares enough to travel here.
