We're sad to report that according to Variety and several other news sources Eddie Money, well-known singer and songwriter for such hits as "Take Me Home Tonight" and "Two Tickets to Paradise" has died at the age of 70.

Michiganders have always had a fondness for Money, who opened up every season at DTE Energy Music Theatre (Pine Knob).

It was revealed in late August that he had been diagnosed with Stage 4 esophageal cancer. His treatment for that cancer was suspended on September 9.

The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.

This is a developing story. We'll provide new details as they become available.
