There is an unusual form of gonorrhea that state health officials have confirmed in Kalamazoo County.

According to WOOD-TV8, five people between the ages of 20 and 55 have been confirmed to have gotten a Disseminated gonococcal infection. Four of those cases are in Kalamazoo County and there is a sixth case pending in Calhoun County.

Disseminated gonococcal infections occur following a normal gonorrhea infection then having unprotected sex after. Usually this kind of infection will have you in the hospital.

Sometimes the disease can go undetected but if you are having a fever, chills, joint pain, stiffness and swelling, these could be symptoms of Disseminated gonococcal infection..
