The NBA G League, the NBA's official minor league, announced this week it is has canceled the rest of its season. The league includes the Grand Rapids Drive.

In response to the coronavirus pandemic and following the NBA's announcement that it is suspending game play, the NBA G League season was suspended March 12. The regular season had been scheduled to conclude March 28.

NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim said in a statement,

“While canceling the remainder of our season weighs heavily on us, we recognize that it is the most appropriate action to take for our league. I extend my sincere gratitude to NBA G League players and coaches for giving their all to their teams and fans this season.  And to our fans, I thank you and look forward to resuming play for the 2020-21 season.”

The league says that in the coming weeks will announce end-of-season award winners, including the Most Valuable Player, Dennis Johnson Coach of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.

According to Fox Sports, on Thursday the NBA board of governors voted to approve a July 31 restart for the 2019-20 NBA season. Based on standings when the league ended its season, March 11, 22 teams will make the trip to the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando to finish out the season. This does not include the Detroit Pistons, as they were not in playoff position.
