Restaurant Week GR runs through Sunday, August 19th. Over 60 restaurants are participating this year. It's your chance to "Taste the City"!

Each restaurant has created a special menu highlighting fresh, local ingredients. There are three options this year:

Option 1: 2 courses for $15 per person

Option 2: 2 courses for $25 per person

Option 3: Chef's Choice for over $25 per person.

Last weekend I decided to try a restaurant I had never been to. I ventured out to Vintage Prime and Seafood. They are located within the new Cork Wine & Grille at 5500 Cascade Road, SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.

They are offering up the Chef's Choice option of 2 courses for $50 per person.

For the first course you have the option of Scottish Salmon Cakes, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail or Duck Salad. I chose the Duck Salad which included a spring mix, duck, marcona almonds, red onion, goat cheese, and a honey-citrus poppyseed dressing. (I dove in so quickly I forgot to take a picture!)

Choices for the second course were Prime Ribeye, Crab Cakes, and Pan-Seared Duck. I chose the Crab Cakes. They included king and lump crab with remoulade and a summer vegetable succcotash. Very tasty. (And I remember to take a picture before I started eating this time!)

My friend chose the Jumbo Shrimp and the Prime Ribeye -- also very good. The service was impeccable as well! A great meal -- at a restaurant I had never been to.

I so look forward to Restaurant Week GR every summer just so I can go out and check out new places. If you would like more information, the official website is www.restaurantweekgr.com. You can see which restaurants are participating and the menus they are offering.

Plus, listen this week for your chance to win some gift cards to check out some of the participating restaurants
