A man wanted in a suspected homicide, strips off his clothes and dives into Lake Michigan to try and escape the law.

According to WOOD, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Marine Patrol boat pulled in the suspect after he surrendered while trying to swim away from sheriff's.

The man allegedly murdered someone at a home in the 5900 block of Meeeuwenberg Drive just off Lakewood Road, east of US-31 in Dalton Township.

The Grand Haven Department of Public Safety Director, Jeff Hawke, says the suspect who is in his late 20's or early 30's, stripped off his clothes on the south pier and hopped into the lake. He swam in the water for nearly 35 minutes before surrendering and boarding the sheriff's boat.

The man surrendered and boarded the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol boat shortly before 12:30 p.m. Thursday.

Hawke also said investigators recovered some weapons that were connected to the crime. Detectives believe the suspect knew the victim.
