A nonprofit looking to raise funds to keep our Great Lakes beautiful will attempt to paddleboard across Lake Huron this summer.

9 & 10 News reports that Stand Up for Great Lakes will leave around June 13 (weather depending) and paddle 90 miles to Tobermory Canada.

The group met in Alpena for a safety meeting and sunset paddle in Alpena last week.

Stand Up for Great Lakes' Kwin Morris told 9 & 10 News,

"Meeting the captains was priority one.Talking about safety, game planning, where we're launching, from getting them used to our lights and getting them used to our speed and pace and things like that."

The trip is expected to take around 30 hours and will raise money for the Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
