According to MLive, Michigan decided Thursday afternoon in a bulletin sent out, how they would handle the sale and use of CBD oils in the state.

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, (fun to have to say every time you called someone) said the oils would fall under the existing medical marijuana laws for Michigan, reports MLive.

While CBD oils are derived from hemp or marijuana, they don’t possess the “high effect” you get with smoking marijuana or using THC oil.  CBD oils are used to treat a variety of ailments.

A spokesperson for the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs told MLive, “the advisory was meant to clear up confusion surrounding oil-based marijuana products and make their use safer for medical marijuana patients.”

This is all happening as the state works to get all marijuana businesses in compliance with the regulatory framework they approved in Lansing back in 2016.
