Gilda's Laughfest

Gilda’s LaughFest, the nation’s only community-wide festival of laughter, is expanding its schedule in Holland with more free shows and events going to the Lakeshore, including the Kids Joke Time.

From the onset of his hour long set at the Wealthy Theatre on Saturday night, Pete Holmes was honest with his audience. He said: "I don't know where this thing is gonna go, but let's just get silly. Let's just have fun." Holmes sure did, and for the most part, they did, too.

Lavell Crawford has canceled his Gilda's LaughFest appearance for Wednesday night because of a movie he's currently filming, festival officials announced this morning. The cancellation of his appearance at Fountain Street Church is because of a change in the production schedule for the film "Meet the Blacks."

A paper crown-capped world record was part of the agenda at the Gilda's LaughFest Community Kickoff. While the world mark set last July didn't tumble, the throngs at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids more than made up for it in spirit, energy, effusiveness and antics Thursday night.
