When I was growing up. my favorite hockey team was the Kalamazoo Wings. My hometown team. I spent many a nights cheering on the K Wings. And one of the things the tea, was known for, and still are, are colored ice games.
When the "Three Stars of the Game" happen at Van Andel Arena, I pick from 3 or 4 songs to play. "Shining Star" by Earth, Wind and Fire or "Starry Eyed Surprise". Maybe even "Counting Stars". But I didn't expect when the Stars won in overtime Friday night I didnt think the Stars would end the Griffs season so quick.
The Griffs have their proverbial backs against the wall tonight. It's Game 3 of the Calder Cup Western Conference Semifinals against the Texas Stars. The Stars lead the series 2-0. The Stars also won the regular season title. But the Griffins beat them 3 out of 4 this regular season.

The Griffins, being the farm team of the Red Wings, have 2 jobs. Try and win the Calder Cup and get players ready for the NHL. And they have done a pretty good job of both. One of the Red Wings prospects, Teemu Pulkkinen, is turning into one of those stars.
