A limited voluntary recall has been issued for some popular cat food brands.

The FDA says the recall includes certain cans of 9Lives, EverPet, and Special Kitty because of low thiamine (Vitamin B1), which is crucial for cats.

According to The J.M. Smucker Company, who owns the brands, says that low levels of thiamine can have a negative health affect on cats over time. After several weeks, a cat with low thiamine can experience decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. If progresses, your cat can have neurological issues such as seizures and not walking properly.

The cans were sold between December 20, 2016 and January 3, 2017.

Thankfully, no illnesses have been reported.

You can see the full list of affected cans here.

If you bought any of these cans, immediately stop feeding them to your cat(s) and call the company at 1-800-828-9980 or e-mail consumer.relations@jmsmucker.com.
