With my birthday is being right around the Christmas holiday, seeing giant Christmas light displays is right up my alley.

As a Kalamazoo native, I grew fond of Christmas Card Lane on Lauderdale Street. Everyone put larger-than-life Christmas cards in their front yards with lights and some automated twinkling lights shows. It really got you into the season.

With that in mind, I have compiled a list of the top three places in Grand Rapids to see cool Christmas light displays!

Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World celebrates 19 years of bringing holiday joy with a special focus on the role nature and natural materials play in cultural traditions. The seasonal exhibition includes more than 42 cultural trees and displays, Santa Claus, reindeer, carolers, carriage rides and the much-loved Railway Garden.

It's a magical outing in Comstock Park that is a family tradition year after year at Fifth Third Ballpark, home of the Midwest League's West Michigan Whitecaps.

See the 40-foot tree light up tonight outside Grand Rapids Art Museum, but you won't be able to step onto the ice rink at Rosa Parks Circle until at least Saturday. Purchase hot chocolate on the terrace, or warm up inside the museum with complimentary snacks, hands-on activities for families, snacks, a cash bar and galleries open until 9 p.m. Also, the white and purple lights around Rosa Parks Circle are really cool again this year!
