The marijuana business is booming in Michigan. In fact, as of August 2021, the Mitten State is 7th in the U.S. in  Marijuana sales and consumption.

Dispensaries seem to be popping up left and right in West Michigan - and two new cannabis provision centers are opening up near downtown Grand Rapids soon.

A vacant lot on Grand Rapid' West side is being transformed into a four-story building that will be home to the new headquarters of Construction Simplified, office space, and a new recreational marijuana store.

MLive reports Construction Simplified is hoping to start construction on the property at the corner of Lexington Avenue and Fulton Street in mid-April, with a tentative completion date in September or October.

Cloud Cannabis, based in Troy, Mich., will operate the dispensary on the first floor. MLive reports the new store will offer flower, edibles, pre-rolled joints, concentrates, topicals, vape cartridges and more.

Plans for another dispensary nearby are in the works at 1109 Michigan St. NE.

According to MiBiz, New Standard is planning to open its first Grand Rapids dispensary at the location in Midtown, near the Medical Mile. New Standard recently opened it's 9th store in the state in Whitehall.

About the midtown location, New Standard co-founder and CEO Howard Luckoff told MiBiz,

We love the area and think that hopefully there will be a lot of foot traffic. We’re trying to design a facility that lends itself to walkability as well as consumers who are driving.

Initially, the Grand Rapids planning commission had approved a site plan to convert a former auto body repair shop on the property into a dispensary. Apparently the building was in too much disrepair to be renovated, and the new plan is to build a modern two-story structure.

New Standards'cannabis products include flower, edibles, topicals, tinctures, vaporizers, pre-rolls, and more.

An expected opening date for the new Grand Rapids location has not been shared.
