Eight West Michigan beach towns now have a new transportation option.

MLive reports that app-based ride service Uber will begin serving the Lakeshore Friday, June 16.

Uber announced in a press release that the company will now operate in Benton Harbor, Grand Haven, Holland, Muskegon, New Buffalo, Saugatuck, South Haven and St. Joseph.

According to MLive, James Ondrey, Uber's Michigan general manager, said,

"I am thrilled to announce that Uber is launching in Holland, Muskegon, Grand Haven, South Haven, and Saugatuck. Folks heading to the lake this summer can now use Uber to explore the many amenities the area has to offer, whether it's a brewery or a beach.

Those looking to earn extra income now have a flexible earning opportunity available to them at the tap of a button."

Uber is offering new users one free ride up to $15 with the code LAKEMI17 through October 1.
