One of the 3 or 4 best meats in the world, next to steak, ham, sausage, and beef, is BACON. I really haven't found many things that bacon isn't awesome with. The only problem with bacon these days, next to the hardened arteries, is the price.

And the price is going up. Boo.

The story from the AP "US Bacon Prices Rise After Virus Kills Baby Pigs" spells it out.

"The U.S. is both a top producer and exporter of pork, but production could decline about 7 percent this year compared to last — the biggest drop in more than 30 years, according to a recent report from Rabobank, which focuses on the food, beverage and agribusiness industries.

Already, prices have shot up: A pound of bacon averaged $5.46 in February, 13 percent more than a year ago, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Ham and chops have gone up too, although not as much."

Not happy about that. It means 2 things. A pound of bacon is more expensive, and now packages of bacon are becoming smaller to keep the price closer to 3.50. a 16 ounce package 10 years ago is the 13 ounce package 2 years ago now to an 11 or 12 ounce package now.

Boo.
