Nobody Recognizes Verve Pipe Singer Performing Own Song at Karaoke… AGAIN!

Verve Pipe singer Brian Vander Ark is a West Michigan Guy, so by all accounts, he could blend in pretty well with the common man. But still... wouldn't you think you'd recognize the guy if he was singing his own song at Karaoke?

Apparently not, as (once again) almost NOBODY caught on as he sang his own song to a sparsely-populated bar in California.

Brian was sipping on drinks in Costa Mesa, California, recently when he got a wild hair, and decided to sing karaoke. His song of choice? Verve Pipe's "The Freshman."

In 1997, that song was a BANGER! Peaked at No. 1 on the U.S. Alternative Charts, Top 5 on US Billboard, and Top 10 on U.S. Mainstream Rock Charts. So, HOW is this possible that you don't recognize the EXACT voice you've listened to, sing that song since 1997?

Their first album, "Villains" was by far their biggest success back in the late 1990s. But they're still a VERY recognizable band, and should be playing for more than a handful of people at what looks like a knockoff Margaritaville in the middle of the afternoon.

What's great about that video - aside from Brian himself pointing out "It's More Fun when they don't know..." - is the guy running the karaoke, just dismissing him after he's done... "Thank you Brian."

Also, this is NOT the first time it's happened. TWO MORE videos are out there, and this one, from a year ago, is of him singing to even MORE people... who STILL don't know who he is!
