Growing up in the '70s, "old timey" meant silent, black and white film. Today, "old timey" means grainy VHS footage. Let's return to the heady days of 1993.

I discovered this on YouTube, and it highlights the history of the Ottawa Hills neighborhood on the southeast side of Grand Rapids.

It's a weird combination of music from the '20s, when the neighborhood was born, and "modern" footage from the '90s.

Some of the stone houses in the neighborhood are very unique, and the history of that section of town dates all the way back to a Native American settlement that existed before the arrival of Europeans.

This is kind of tour of the neighborhood interspersed with some of its amenities. Enjoy!
