The video that was captured on St. Patrick's Day in Grand Rapids led to the capture of the two men allegedly involved in the a vicious assault.

According to FOX 17, the assault took place on the corner of Cherry and Ionia St. Patrick's Day evening when one person sucker punched the victim while another person stole the victims cell phone.

The suspect who punched the victim, police say was charged with Aggravated Assault. The suspect who swiped the victims phone was charged with Misdemeanor Larceny and lying to police. Both suspects are in the Kent County Jail after turning themselves into the po po.

One suspect, Shawn Engstrom, told FOX 17, that he threw the punch because the victim called him and the friends he was with a homophobic slur and shouted a slew of profanities as he approached them. Engstrom also claims he suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome from a prior incident and reacted out of fear for his safety.

No word on the condition of the victim. As of March 21 he was still listed in critical condition.
