As the City of Grand Rapids continues to drag its feet on recreational marijuana sales, Newaygo County adds another dispensary.

While Grand Rapids city commissioners continue to sing the mantra 'they want to get things right', Newaygo County has opened up another recreational marijuana dispensary, this one even closer in Grant.

Ann Arbor based C3 Industries, a cannabis grower, has opened up High Profile, which is licensed for both recreational and medicinal sales. Grant is just 30 miles from downtown Grand Rapids.

The store will be located at 262 Maple Street (which is M-37) in Grant. The dispensary is currently open from 10am until 9pm daily.

“West Michigan has been a target market for us since we started operations in the state,” Ankur Rungta, CEO told DBusiness.com. “Grant is an ideal location due to the incredible local community, as well as its importance as a major north-south artery from Grand Rapids to Traverse City. Grand Rapids will not have recreational dispensaries until next year, so we believe that there is pent up demand in this part of the state, and we’re excited to serve the local community with high quality cannabis products in a convenient location.”

He's right about the pent up demand. Kent County has a single rec dispensary in Lowell, Meds Cafe. The city has yet to grant a license for a Rec shop, although several medical dispensaries are open here.

Another Ann Arbor company, SkyMint, has been operating a dispensary in Newaygo County, in the city of White Cloud, which is 47 miles from GR. It's parking lot usually includes cars that have obvious signs that they are driving up from GR, like bumper stickers.

High Profile is the third C3 dispensary to open in Michigan.
