In 1964, the Beatles appeared on TV in American, prompting thousands of kids nationwide to form their own bands. Grand Rapids was no exception.

A whole genre of music called 'garage band' was created as a result. The rough sounding, do-it-yourself ethos of bands like ? and the Mysterians, The Troggs and The Kingsmen later inspired the punk and new wave movements and bands like The White Stripes.

While stumbling around the internet, I came across a garage band from that era from Grand Rapids called The Bel Aires, and this was their single, 'Ya Ha Be Be'
