Shields of Hope is run by firefighters and police officers from West Michigan, who give back to their communities by providing assistance to those suffering from cancer.

Many times, the burden of having a loved one afflicted with this disease means families need a helping hand, and that's where Shields of Hope steps in, providing physical, emotional and financial assistance to those in need.

Shields of Hope was our featured charity at this year's Insane Inflatables race.

You can nominate a family dealing with cancer for their annual 'Heroes Helping Heroes' trip to the Great Wolf Lodge. This event will be held October 16-18, 2015 and will provide the opportunity for families to retreat away from the chaos and stress of doctor appointments, fear of the unknown and the stress that cancer inflicts on the family. A fun-filled time of smiles, laughter and making positive memories.

Shields of Hope is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization with the State of Michigan. All donations are tax deductible. You can help them now fund future projects with your donation. 100% of the money stays local in our own community!

You can learn more about Shields of Hope on their Facebook page.

In June of 2014 Kevin Sikkema was diagnosed with brain cancer. Kevin is a husband, father, and Firefighter with the Georgetown and Blendon Township Fire Departments. In May of this year, Shields of Hope paid Kevin a visit.
