If you plan on using 131 this weekend in either direction, stay away from the 100th Street Bridge starting Friday night. Workers will once again be repairing the bridge.

According to WOOD TV, so serious work will go into the 100th Street bridge this weekend. Workers will be shaving a few inches off of the pavement underneath the overpass plus there is some work that needs to be done to the bridge itself.

With 131 being down, this will cause closing to Clyde Park and Division avenues as well. Drivers on 131 will be able to exit the highway and then reenter the freeway without having to stop to keep traffic moving.

The closings begin at 9 p.m. on Friday then they are set to reopen at 5:30 a.m. Monday morning.

MDOT is hoping that the work done this weekend will gain three to four inches of clearance.

This particular bridge has been hit by more than a dozen semis this year alone.

By 2020, MDOT hopes fund and upgrade the overpass and raise the bridge from 14 feet to 16 feet 3 inches.
