What is the Oldest Building in Grand Rapids?
The oldest building in Grand Rapids? Hmmm, a good question. How about our downtown studios, 50 Monroe, NW? They are re-doing the entire buildings here, uncovering some fantastic history that has been covered up since the '80s, but nope, not us. We're a youngster, built in 1890, compared to the oldest one.
The oldest building in Grand Rapids is the Calkins Law Office! Built in 1836, the Calkins Law Office building has survived 182 years. Originally at Monroe Center and Ottawa, it now sits at State and Jefferson by the old public museum.
