Where Can You Go on a Sleigh Ride near Grand Rapids?
We've all heard the song "Sleigh Ride" and the line "It's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you."
The weather isn't really cooperating right now, with our lack of snow, but if you did want to go on an actual sleigh ride near Grand Rapids -- where could you go?
Surprisingly there are a few places that offer up sleigh rides this time of year. Here are a few places we found where you can experience the sound of "jingle bells" in a "one-horse open sleigh" (or maybe a few horses!).
3665 15 Mile Road NW, Kent City, MI
The Common Gentry Carriage Company offers up carriage rides of all kinds. In the winter they offer a classic sleigh ride. You'll listen to the sound of German sleigh bells as your horse walks in the snow. You can cuddle up with your loved one in an 1800's horse-drawn sleigh. Blankets are provided for warmth. They also have a heated pole barn for your group's gathering. More information can be found on The Common Gentry Carriage Company Facebook page.
11966 Fruit Ridge Avenue NW, Kent City, MI
Belgian draft horses Zeke and Zoey will pull the sleigh full of your family and friends around the farm at Fruit Ridge Hayrides. Rides are approximately one hour and can be combined with an hour campfire before or after the ride. The cost is $200 per hour for up to 10 people. Additional information can be found on the Fruit Ridge Hayrides Facebook page.
5081 Bauer Road, Hudsonville, MI
You will go over the creek "and through the woods" on a horse drawn ride at the Post Family Farm. The cost is $10 per person and includes a bonfire with marshmallows and hot chocolate. Reservations can be made through the Post Family Farm Facebook page.
1861 52nd Street, Fennville, MI
Small private sleigh rides through the woods are available at the Wild West Ranch. The rides last 40-45 minutes and are by appointment. The rides cost $100 per couple.
Horseback riding is also available in the winter. Get additional information on the Wild West Ranch Horseback Riding Facebook page.
12600 Buchanan Road, Stanwood, MI
A sleigh ride at Healey's Outback Ranch and Guest House can accommodate up to six adults on their horse drawn sleigh. Cozy up with family and friends for a 35 minute ride through the woods. Warm up afterwards with some hot cocoa and a homemade treat. Until there is snow, Healey's is offering Christmas Wagon rides to the Castle at Canadian Lakes to watch the light show. The cost is $75.00. More information can be found on the Healey's Outback Ranch Facebook page.
