Versiti Blood Center of Michigan is asking for donors after the winter weather has put the blood supply in critical need for the state of Michigan, according to WZZM 13.

WZZM 13 says that because of the super cold temps and heavy snow, more than 80 different blood drives around the state were canceled and now there’s an emergency appeal to restock the blood supply.

While all blood types are needed, O-positive and O-negative along with platelets are in “dire need”, Versiti Blood Center told WZZM 13.  It takes about 560 people each day to donate blood to keep the blood center in supply for the 69 Michigan Hospitals they serve.

WZZM 13 says if you want to donate, it only takes about an hour and you can set up a time by calling the blood center at 1-866-642-5663 or CLICK HERE.
