Sunday, the Lions rolled out to a quick 14-0 lead. And all of us knew it wouldn't last. It never does.

As Lions' fans, we're never comfortable when the team jumps out to a big lead early, and now there's solid proof as to why.

Six times in the last year, the Detroit Lions have blown double digit leads. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, that's the first time in the 100-year history of the NFL any team has ever done that.

Yay! We suck better than every team in the past 100 years!

So at least we're exceptional in losing.

Let's take a look back at the Lions profundity at blowing big leads.

It all dates back to last Thanksgiving, when the Lions, playing without Matt Stafford (a no longer valid excuse) jumped out to a 17-7 lead over Chicago before losing 24-20, spoiling my holiday meal.

Then they blew a 10-0 lead to Denver, who won 27-17.

For a moment, they stunned the Green Bay Packers in January, running up a 14-0 lead at home, before losing on a late field goal, 23-20.

This season, they were leading 23-6 against Chicago before losing, 27-23. They blew a 14-0 lead at Green Bay in week two, and a 14-0 lead yesterday against New Orleans.

To be fair, they were also blown out by Tampa Bay and Minnesota in that time period, and actually won a game over Arizona last week, but they never held double digit leads in those games.

And that, my friends, is why it's so interesting to be a Lions fan. They continually find new ways to be break our hearts.
