Want to be remembered in history books for doing something important?

This isn't the way to do it.

Want to have fun and help break a silly world record?

Make sure to clean your Christmas sweater the next time you do laundry!

UglyChristmasSweater.com is sponsoring an attempt for the largest gathering of people wearing Christmas sweaters and jumpers. The Guinness World Records attempt will take place at downtown Detroit's Beacon Park on Dec. 9. People are asked to start gathering at 6:30 p.m. with the world record attempt coming at 7 p.m.

Food and drink will be available. There will also be fire pits and interactive light installations. A silent disco will begin in a heated tent following the world record attempt.

The current record of 3,473 was set at the Kansas vs. Montana men's basketball game on Dec. 19, 2015, in Kansas.

Dress warm and plan a world-record-breaking road trip for Saturday, Dec. 9!
