In a world where active shooting situations has become the norm, it's important to be prepared. Would you survive if there was a shooter in our community? The Kent County Sheriff's Office wants you to be ready so they are hosting a free training session tonight.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) will be held from 6p-8p at Plainfield Township Hall in Belmont. According to the Facebook event page, you will learn

...strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.

Fox 17 spoke with the organizers and said that people are statistically more likely to survive if they know what to do in high-alert situations such as an active shooter.

Even though it's a free event, registration is required by calling Deputy Mandy Bernal-Hill at (616) 632-6228.

The Sheriff's Office will also offer training at your place of business or office. You can schedule that by calling that same number.
