1,899 families located in Allegan, Ionia, Kent and Ottawa counties have had their medical debt paid in full by a church in Wyoming Michigan.

According to WZZM, Sunday morning church service may have witnessed the hand of God when Pastor Sam Rijfkogel of Grand Rapids First announced that thanks to a sizable donation, the church will be able to pay of medical debt for nearly thousands in four counties.

The church used a program that purchases debt with pennies on the dollar from a non profit organization called RIP Medical Dept. The debt that was covered for families was almost $2 million.

The gift from the church totaled $1,832,439.26 to be exact and freed a lot of people from debt hanging over the heads.

RIP Medical Debt is a third party that works between folks with heavy medical debt and donors that purchase portfolios of medical debt from people at poverty level that have debt that is 5% more than the the money they make for the entire year.

RIP has wiped out debt worth $624 million since 2014.
