Always wanted to own a bar? There are three for sale in downtown Ludington!

MLive reports that owners Brian and Megan Josefowicz have listed Sportsman’s Irish Pub, The Mitten Bar and Barley & Rye, along with the liquor license for $1.4 million.

Ludington is one of my favorite spots to visit along Lake Michigan! The three restaurant/ bars for sale have made for great dinners and fun nights out on trips to Ludington. They all lie in close proximity along W. Ludington Ave.

Sportman’s Irish Pub, a traditional sports bar, has been in the owners' family for 65 years. According to MLive,

Original owners Hoyt and Ann Payment are Megan Josefowicz’s grandparents. Her parents, Mike and Julie Payment, ran the business from 1980 through 2011 when the Josefowicz got involved and began expanding. In 2011, they adding The Mitten, focused on Michigan craft beer. In 2013, they opened Barley & Rye, which focuses on scotch and whiskey. Situated in two neighboring buildings on Ludington Avenue/U.S. 10, the three businesses are connected through indoor archways and operate under a single liquor license.

Why are they selling? The owners say they're ready for a change and that sale is not related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Josefowicz tells MLive,

It’s a lifestyle choice. We have two kids (ages 2 and 5) who we want a different environment for... We are open for business. We’re selling, and it’s an odd time because of COVID, but we’re in a unique situation because we’re not desperate to sell.”

Closed for dine-in since the start of the pandemic, the restaurants opened for takeout in June. Plans to fully reopen this week were put on hold due to an increase in COVID-19 around the state.

According to the listing, the businesses grossed $2.3 million at every year end since 2016:

This is a turnkey offering with all locations well-established in the community. Two very experienced managers will stay with the transition. Don't miss your opportunity to become a successful part of the thriving lakeshore community in Ludington, Michigan.

In addition to 11,172 square feet of real estate, the sale includes equipment, furniture, inventory, and licenses. Check out pictures below!
