10 Things to do July 21-23, 2017It’s the last weekend in July. Area festivals and fairs continue, along with food, movies, baseball, runs and concerts. We have events for adults, kids, and even the dog!

There are plenty of activities for all ages. No matter where you are in west Michigan there is something to do!

Some activities include the kids, while others are more for the adults.

The Fulton Street Farmers Market is celebrating their 95th season of offering locally-grown fruits and vegetables, meats, eggs, plants, home-made arts and crafts. The Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department provides this venue as a service to the residents of Grand Rapids.

It’s the Biggest Bounce House in the World! The magical, inflatable castle is 10,000 square feet of fun, games and laughter that can be enjoyed by everyone. There will be giant inflatable characters, ball pits, slides, obstacles and basketball hoops for you to jump on, slide down and slam-dunk into! If you need a break, there will be over-sized, sofas, boats, palm trees, beds and a separate domed ‘chill out zone’ to relax in.

Come and watch a movie outdoors! The pre-movie entertainment begins at 6 pm, the movie “Zootopia” (PG) begins at 7 pm, followed by the movie “Star Trek” (PG-13).

On Friday evening, John Hiller will be on hand for Tiger Friday. Saturday will be Superhero night and feature the Human Cannonball and Family Fare Fireworks after the game. Sunday is Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Family Sunday. The first 1,000 kids eat free.

The Coast Guard Festival kicks off on Friday with Natural Wonder – A Stevie Wonder Tribute Band. On Saturday it’s Tri-Cities Family YMCA Grand Haven Coast Guard Festival Run, the Kids Parade, the Cardboard Boat Race, and Captured Detroit – a Journey Tribute Band. Sunday features a Cruise in Car Show, a Grand Haven Rotary Pancake Breakfast, a Flea Market and the Coast Guard Festival Community Picnic. (The Carnival runs Tuesday, August 1st through Saturday, August 5th, 2017.)

Logan’s Alley will pouring some amazing Dogfish Head beers, including 120 Minute and World Wide Stout. 15% of the total sales will be donated to Paws with a Cause! They will be shutting down the parking lot and allowing dogs outside all day! Paws with a Cause will have some of their training demonstrations. Splash and Dash will be offering grooming related prizes and other fur-related giveaways! Also scheduled is live music, games and shenanigans with your favorite pooch! Kid friendly.

This run is all about having the time of your life, The Color Run is a five-kilometer, un-timed event in which thousands of participants, or “Color Runners”, are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. There are  only two rules: wear white at the starting line and finish plastered in color! After the race, the fun continues with an unforgettable Finish Festival.

It will be a whole day of fiery fun at the Downtown Market! Scheduled are tons of spicy activities like: kids activites, piñata smash , pepper eating contest, salsa dancing, margarita bar, and much more!

Cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser have had phenomenal success by taking cello to a new level. Their playing style has broken down the boundaries between musical genres, from classical and film music to pop and rock. 2Cellos have no limits when it comes to performing live. They are equally as impressive whether they are playing Bach and Vivaldi or AC/DC.

Starring some of the contestants from Season 9 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on VH-1, performing live on stage and rocking the catwalk. It’s an evening of outstanding drag performances with your favorite queens. All ages welcome. Doors at 7 pm, show at 8 pm.
