That's quite a few compared to the past few years. In 2011, West Michigan had a grand total of 8 "Clean Air" action days, the new name the EPA gave what used to be called "Ozone Action" days. The days where the wind blows ozone and other unhealthy airborne particles from places like Chicago and Milwaukee.

Every time there's a "Clean Air" action day, West Michigan residents are encouraged to not mow the lawn and not fill up the tank. Save some gas and the air. And fixed Rapid bus routes are FREE on action days. Which means free bus rides for me! I take the bus often, even though I have a car. It saves some gas and maybe a tree too.

The Holland Sentinel has a great story on this years' air quality "Friday is 25th Clean Air Action Day this summer"
