Barry Manilow Lights up Van Andel Arena [Review]
What a show! Barry Manilow, who is now 68, put on a fantastic show at the Van Andel Arena last night and did not let his fans down. Everyone who came through the door got a red glow stick, and when the lights went down at Van Andel Arena, it was awesome. It had been over 10 years since Manilow played in GR - and he mentioned this at the show, and apologized.
Barry Came out dressed classy as ever, and 0pening with "It's a Miracle" to a dancing crowd. The Band was tight, and the two backup singers danced along the stage the entire show and also sounded great.
Some highlights included a solo performance of "I Am Your Child" - a very early song for Manilow from his first album back in 1973. He also did "Brooklyn blues" - a song rarely heard in concert celebrating his Brooklyn heritage. Of course, all the hits were there and then some. Everything from Mandy to I Write the songs.
Manilow didnt really miss a beat. Even at the age of 68, he moved around the stage well and didn't miss a beat.
Only complaint really - wish the show would have been longer! See you at Cheap Trick!
